What staying at Man Utd could mean for Alexis Sanchez

It’s safe to say most Manchester United fans have given up hope on Alexis Sanchez. The biggest flop in the club’s history appears to be on the verge of joining Inter Milan on loan, but there’s still a possibility he will remain beyond the European deadline for transfers.

According to Paul Hirst of The Times, Sanchez will predominantly play in the Europa League and League Cup if he does not secure a move away from Old Trafford this summer.

It is understood that United and Inter have resumed talks over a potential loan deal, which must be completed before September 2.

Sanchez joined from Arsenal in January 2018 and became the club’s highest earner on £391,000 per week. Since then he has scored only four league goals and patience is wearing thin towards the Chile international.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer prefers Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford to the 30-year-old, which is a clear indication that he quickly fell down the pecking order at Old Trafford.

A loan move with include an option to buy at the end, but United must sacrifice paying most of his wages this season, even though he’ll be playing for another club in Italy.

I guess a lot of this will come down to Sanchez’s influence on the mood in the dressing room. It wouldn’t surprise us if a few of the players wanted him out.
