Feyenoord and PSV express interest in Man Utd youngster; agent claims player has no intention of leaving

Feyenoord and PSV Eindhoven have both enquired about taking Tahith Chong on loan in recent weeks, according to Dutch outlet Voetbal International.

But the youngster’s agent has said the player has no intention of leaving Old Trafford this summer and would prefer to continue his development at Old Trafford.

“Tahith does not want to be loaned, but [he wants] to fight for his chance at Manchester United,” Chong’s agent Erkan Alkan said, as quoted by the Manchester Evening News.

“Top clubs from the Bundesliga and La Liga also have him in sight. He has done a strong preparation, in which he has proven to belong to the better attackers of United.”

Chong was brought on the pre-season tour and impressed in his three appearances, although was not involved in the first two match-day squads of the season, against Chelsea and Wolves.

Although United played a behind-closed-doors friendly against newly promoted Premier League side Sheffield United, it is not known if the 19-year-old played a part.

With Solskjaer being lacking in attacking options, Chong may see that as an opportunity to break into the team for competitive games this season.

An injury to either Anthony Martial or Marcus Rashford could see the squad stretched after selling Romelu Lukaku without signing a replacement.

Chong can be dangerous in the final third with his immense ability to dribble with the ball, though he needs to improve the physical side of his game before jumping from the U23s.
