Report: Real Madrid consider €75m-rated midfielder previously snubbed by Man Utd

Bruno Fernandes is still at Sporting Lisbon after a summer of missing flights to Manchester.

Only joking, but the Portuguese press had fun claiming repeatedly that the playmaker was en route to Manchester to sign for the Red Devils. It never happened and a report from ESPN last week suggested that United ended their interest in Fernandes because of concerns he losses possession too much.

There could be an alternative route out of Sporting though, and it will be equally appealing to the Portugal international.

Spanish outlet Don Balon claim that Fernandes is being targeted as a back to United’s Paul Pogba, Tottenham’s Christian Eriksen, and Ajax’s Donny van de Beek, with Real Madrid looking to bolster Zinedine Zidane’s options in midfield for the new season.

It remains to be seen if R. Madrid can strike a deal for Fernandes, but the 24-year-old has been linked with an array of clubs this summer and looks no closer to leaving Sporting.

Don Balon put that down to his hefty price tag of €75m.

We’ll have to wait and see what happens but he’ll be linked with United again in January no doubt. The transfer circus never ends!
