Mason Greenwood will be a ‘superstar’ at Manchester United if he stays grounded, says Head of first team development Nicky Butt.
Speaking in a feature for Super Six, as quoted by Manchester Evening News, Butt said:
“Purely for the excitement and the fans I think Greenwood is going to be a real, real superstar if he keeps his feet on the ground, he’s patient and he scores the goals that he can.”
“He’s both footed, he’s a big, strong, powereful kid who can score goals and he’s still very much a young boy who’s likeable.”
The 17-year-old is one of the most talented youngsters to come out of United’s famous academy, and made his markteam during his first pre-season in the first-team set-up.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer rates Greenwood highly and has already confirmed he will give the youngster plenty of opportunities this season.
The teenage sensation will get more chances to shine as Solskjaer looks to rotate his squad in the Europa League and League Cup competitions as the season progresses.
He came on for the final moments in the hammering of Chelsea at Old Trafford, and will hope to feature in Monday’s night’s tough game away to Wolves.
It’s important the Reds get a result at Molineux to continue their early momentum, after losing twice their under Solskjaer last season.
