From Best, Cantona and Ronaldo to Valencia, Owen and Sanchez, the famous number seven shirt at Manchester United has had somewhat of a fall from grace in recent years.
The latest to wear the fabled shirt, Alexis Sanchez, looks increasingly likely to end his disastrous stay at Old Trafford to join Inter Milan this summer.
Confirmed: Inter are in talks with Man United for Alexis Sanchez. Loan until June 2020 + buy option for €15M. Part of the wage would be paid by Man Utd too. Alexis asked to the club and to Solskjaer to join Inter. Now it just depends by Man United decision. 🇨🇱 #MUFC #transfers

Sanchez’s exit would leave the squad number vacant again, and Manchester United fans are already getting excited of who the next number seven could be.
Jadon Sancho is the man many want to see in the jersey, and is reportedly set to leave Borussia Dortmund next summer after shining during his time in Germany.
The Daily Mail reported that the Reds are in the front of the queue for the Englishman, who would cost in excess of £100m.
The teenager is one of the most exciting young attackers in world football, and suits Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s fluid attacking approach perfectly.
Sancho also fit’s United’s recruitment policy of young British talent, so it’s no surprise to hear that the club will make their best attempt to sign him when he does become available.
There had previously been a lot of pressure to live up to wearing the number 7 jersey, but Sancho has taken everything in his stride in the Bundesliga and the weight of the shirt wouldn’t burden the youngster.

Sancho also has issue with scoring goals
We can pitch to both of them
Sancho – 7
Maddison – 8(when Mata is done)
Greenwood – 11
Rashford – 10
Martial – 9
Gomes – We will decide with time— A. 🦋 (@bayoabdulrahman) August 18, 2019
That would be brilliant. Florentino has had a excellent start. Sancho is doing his thing as usual. Maddison being immense as ever. Ceballos would be great too.
