Report: Man Utd defender agrees to join Lukaku at Inter Milan ‘on free transfer’

According to reports in Italy, Matteo Darmian is ready to sign for Inter Milan on a free transfer when his contract runs out next summer.

Rai Sport, as cited by Football Italia, claim the Serie A side have reached an agreement with the 29-year-old, who seems to be the forgotten man at Old Trafford.

Darmian would join Romelu Lukaku at Antonio Conte’s side, after the Belgian international made the deadline day switch.

The Italian’s Manchester United career seems to have been over for some time now, yet the Reds have still not been able to sell him.

If these reports are to be believed, then it is frustrating to see Darmian stay for another season and go on a free as he is surplus to requirements. The Reds should be looking to cash in before the European transfer window shuts on September 2nd.

The signings of Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Diogo Dalot means Darmian is no longer required as right-back cover and Ashley Young can fill in for Luke Shaw on the left.
