Pogba reveals own nickname for Harry Maguire after man-of-match display against Chelsea

Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba has already found a new nickname for summer signing Harry Maguire.

Maguire was awarded man of the match after an immense defensive display against Chelsea, where he showed United fans just why the club have splashed the cash for him this summer.

The England international looked at home on his Old Trafford debut, demonstrating confidence on the ball whilst leading United’s backline.

Pogba, who was also influential in the game with assists for Marcus Rashford and Daniel James, praised Maguire after the match.

“As I call him – ‘the Beast’,” said Pogba as quoted by the Express.

Honestly, as you saw, he was really impressive. He is a leader. He fits right in with us in training.

“We talked about controlling the defence well and he has a good understanding with Victor [Lindelof].”

Maguire’s blossoming partnership with the Swede is one of the key positives for United’s to take from Sunday’s game.

The pair looked comfortable together, and if they can stay fit they will form one of the best defensive parings in the league.

It’s so refreshing to see a new defensive partnership without Phil Jones and Chris Smalling, who should no longer be relied on at the back. The pair were left out of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s match day squad entirely as Axel Tuanzebe took his place on the bench.

The Reds play Europe hopefuls Wolves away next Monday in what will be another tough encounter for Solskjaer’s side.
