What we learned from Man Utd’s 1-0 win over Kristiansund

Manchester United 1-0 Kristiansund

Another win for the lads to make it five out of five for the 2019 pre-season tour. Not as convincing our previous matches, but we dominated throughout and got over the line at the end thanks to a Juan Mata penalty.

Here are three things we learned from the win over Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s hometown club.

No wonder Paulo Dybala tickles Solskjaer’s fancy

If United are going to play in a 4-2-3-1 formation this season, with Paul Pogba part of a midfield two, they need a better option than Jesse Lingard to play in the hole, and they can do better than a 30-year-old Juan Mata. United will face more teams will Kristiansund, who will sit back and defend for 90 minutes, so they need a bit of extra quality to unlock teams at the back.

Hopefully the Dybala talks end up with him signing the dotted line and holding a United shirt. It will be mouth-watering to see him, Pogba and the likes of Rashford link up together every weekend.

Sporting ace Bruno Fernandes is another player strongly linked with a move to Old Trafford, and he loves a pop at goal.

Scott McTominay is giving United fans reasons to be excited

Whatever they’ve been feeding McTominay throughout the summer, it’s worked wonders for the lad. He looks a lot more assertive in midfield and is a constant threat driving up and down the pitch. We are tipping the Scotland international to have a huge season and to take Nemanja Matic’s place in the team, making him Pogba’s partner in crime through the middle.

Phil Jones and overhead kicks – not a match in heaven

Fair play to Jonesy for trying, but he’s not cut out for overhead kicks. He even blocked his own attempt, as seen below.
