Solskjaer gives update on Eric Bailly injury after defender had to be stretched off

Eric Bailly was stretched off against Tottenham Hotspur during Manchester United’s 2-1 win over their Premier League rivals in Shanghai.

The Ivorian can’t seem to catch a break at the moment after initially showing very promising signs at the heart of United’s defence when he joined as José Mourinho’s first signing in 2016.

Unfortunately, things haven’t worked out since then and there’s a feeling Bailly is running out of time to prove himself at Old Trafford.

If he can’t stay free of injury and get a run in the team, the club will have no other choice but to look to move him on in the future.

Speaking to MUTV after the match, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer didn’t sound very confident about Bailly’s chances after twisting his knee. Though the boss is waiting for scans before giving a date for his expected return.

The demand for a new centre-back increases, with Solskjaer having less options available for the start of the new season.

Talks are underway with Leicester City over the signing of Harry Maguire, as reported by The Metro, but United have only two weeks to get their business done with the transfer window scheduled to shut ahead of the new season.

Moreover, ESPN reporter Rob Dawson took a photo of Bailly passing through the mixed zone on crutches.
