‘It’s a pleasure to work with him’: Gomes hails Man Utd team-mate after assist for stunning Spurs goal

Angel Gomes was the first player to speak with MUTV after Manchester United’s 2-1 win over Tottenham Hotspur in Shanghai.

With good reason too, as it was his second half goal that won the match for the Red Devils, making it four wins out of our on tour this season.

Gomes has been tipped as one of the Academy players with a chance to break into the first-team this season.

He can play a number of different roles in the final third, and his goal came from a dazzling dribble on the left flank following a one-two with Juan Mata.

Instead of picking out Marcus Rashford in the goal mouth, Gomes showed his confidence to have a shot himself and it paid off.

Talking after the match, Gomes heaped praise on Mata for his assist and hinted that he’s learning a lot from working with the Spaniard.

Both are similar players in many aspects such as being technically gifted.

Now 31, Mata can’t be expected to play every game and Solskjaer has an opportunity to blood younger talent with Gomes coming through.

Tahith Chong, James Garner and Mason Greenwood will all be looking for game time next season unless they’re sent on loan.
