Report: Ed Woodward not on tour to secure transfers of two Premier League stars

According to the Evening Standard, Vice Executive Chairman Ed Woodward has remained in the UK as he looks to thrash out deals for two Premier League stars.

The report claims that Woodward has not travelled for the first leg of the tour to Australia and the Far East because he is looking to complete deals for Leicester’s Harry Maguire and Newcastle’s Sean Longstaff.

It is said that United are continuing in negotiations to sign Maguire, but have so far not agreed a fee as the Foxes are holding out for £90m for their star man.

As reported by Sky Sports, Maguire has told manager Brendan Rodgers that he intends to leave the King Power this summer, and United are leading the chase to sign him.

Meanwhile, Sean Longstaff is another player who has been heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford this summer.

United desperately need new midfield acquisitions before the season starts following the recent departures of Marouane Fellaini and Ander Herrera.

Longstaff, 21, is said to have been identified by manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as a potential future star, but according to the Telegraph, the Reds have been left stunned after being quoted £50m for the youngster.

Let’s hope Ed Woodward can secure the transfer targets wanted by Solskjaer with just three weeks before the transfer window shuts.
