Man Utd ‘optimistic’ over €70m Fernandes transfer after move for Harry Maguire

Reports in Portugal claim there is an optimism that the proposed move for Bruno Fernandes to Man Utd will be completed.

As cited by Sport Witness, four Portuguese publications: A Bola, Correio da ManhãJornal de Notícias and Record. all report that an official bid is expected for the attacking midfielder.

Jornal de Notícias report that if the Reds raise their initial offer from €40m to €60m plus performance related bonuses, then Sporting may consider accepting the deal.

Moreover, the Portuguese side would ideally prefer to hold out for €70m which would be enough for United to bring Fernandes to Old Trafford.

Meanwhile, A Bola claim the Reds will look to complete the Fernandes transfer only once they have signed Leicester defender Harry Maguire, who has been linked to the club all summer.

Miguel Delaney of the Independent yesterday reported that there was a confidence that United would complete a deal to sign the 24-year-old, and that the Reds were poised to make a £50m offer for Fernandes.

Fernandes would be a fantastic signing for manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer who is currently lacking in creative options in midfield. These positive reports are good signs for United fans and we hope to see a deal for the Portuguese international wrapped up with just three weeks before the transfer window shuts.
