Man Utd to announce new contract for young star; defender given chance to break into first-team

Manchester United defender Axel Tuanzebe is reportedly set to sign a new contract at the club.

The 21-year-old was excellent for Aston Villa last season, helping them gain promotion to the Premier League via the play-offs.

Now, according to the Mail, manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has offered him a new deal to extend his stay at Old Trafford.

The report states that Tuanzebe will be given the chance to break into Solskjaer’s first-team side next season, and will fly out for the club’s pre-season tour to Australia in the coming days.

The Reds face Perth Glory before a fiery encounter with Leeds United during the tour.

It’s great to see players like Tuanzebe who have come through the youth ranks at Old Trafford be given a chance. But the youngster must prove that he is ready to play consistently for the Reds, who are seriously lacking in the central defence area.

Leicester City’s Harry Maguire is said to be Solskjaer’s prime target this summer as he looks to bolster United’s defensive options.
