Man Utd look to speed up transfer of Bruno Fernandes; Portuguese star valued at €70m

Manchester United are reportedly looking to speed up the move for Sporting Lisbon midfielder Bruno Fernandes following the announcement of Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s second signing this summer.

Fernandes, 24, has been heavily linked with a move away from Portugal all summer, but reports now suggest that United are finally looking to close a deal.

Portuguese publication Record, as translated by Sport Witness, claim that the Reds have ‘expressed their intention to accelerate’ the move for the Sporting captain, who is valued at €70m.

The report only mentions Solskjaer’s side as a potential destination for Fernandes, who has also been heavily linked with moves to Liverpool and Tottenham this summer.

It is believed Fernandes’ agent Miguel Pinho has been in England this week looking to secure his players’ move, and we could be hearing news on the 24-year-old’s Sporting exit as early as next week.

Fernandes is a player we have reported on all summer, with hope that the Reds can eventually get a deal over the line. Whether or not Paul Pogba leaves the club this summer is largely irrelevant for this transfer; United must look to bring in more creative options in midfield to supplement the attack with a distinct lack of goal-scoring opportunities a problem last campaign.
