Man Utd defender Victor Lindelof is looking forward to the club’s game against rivals Leeds United during their pre-season tour of Australia in July.
The Reds meet their old rivals on 17th July in Perth, in the first meeting between the two sides since 2011, where United came out 3-0 victors.
Speaking to Man Utd’s official website, Lindelof expressed his excitement at the rare encounter against the West Yorkshire club
“I’ve never played against them but I’ve heard about the rivalry with Leeds of course,”
“Even if it’s a pre-season game, its going to be a tough one.”
I have a Swedish friend playing there so it’s also going to be fun. I’m looking forward to that game.
Lindelof is referring to Leeds centre-back Pontus Jansson who has become a cult hero at Leeds, and almost helped them gain promotion to the Premier League last year.
Despite United fans’ hatred for Leeds, it would certainly be interesting to see them back in the Premier League, and a clash at Elland Road would be unmissable. For now, though, we are going to have to settle for a pre-season warm up in Perth, but do not expect any half-hearted challenges between the two rivals.
United’s squad are expected to report back to training at the AON complex on 1st July, before the first game of their summer tour against Perth Glory on 13th July.
