Manchester United now look to be favourites to sign Sporting Lisbon midfielder Bruno Fernandes.
Sky Sports News report that Tottenham Hotspur have cooled their interest in the Portuguese international, considered to be valued around £65m.
According to Sky Sports News, Tottenham met with Fernandes’ officials in London last week, but the North London club are reluctant to start a bidding war with other potential suitors, such as United who are said to be interested in the midfielder.

A report earlier this week by Correio da Manha, as cited by the Mirror, suggested Liverpool had lodged an opening bid of £40m for the 24-year-old, who has been excellent in Primera Liga this season. This offer is well below the £65m asking price Sporting Lisbon have set, and the Portuguese club will hope a bidding war is driven between United and Liverpool.
Fernandes is one of the most sought after talents in Europe at the moment after netting 28 times in 55 appearances from midfield last season (who scored). The Portuguese international also impressed at the recent Nations League finals where his national side went on to beat Switzerland then the Netherlands in the final to lift the trophy.
