AS Monaco midfielder Youri Tielemans admits he was ‘flattered’ by the idea of Manchester United expressing interest in signing him this summer.
The Belgium international has reportedly been on United’s radar since he was captaining his boyhood club Anderlecht aged just 19, during a campaign in which he played against the Red Devils in the Europa League.

You could say it’s a bit like Netherlands international Matthijs de Ligt – another 19-year-old captain earning attraction from some of the biggest football clubs around.
Tielemans joined Monaco just before they started to plummet down Ligue 1 and then joined Leicester City on loan for the second half of last season. He now has a decision to make over his future because staying at Monaco seems unlikely after the bad experience the Ligue 1 side previously had on the midfielder.
In an interview earlier this week, Tielemans referenced transfer links with United and Tottenham.
Tielemans: “Flattered by Man Utd and Spurs interest? Yes, they are really big teams in England and in Europe. To hear those names gives me confidence. I just try to play my game on the pitch and try my best.” #mufc [MEN]

The Evening Standard reports that United consider Tielemans as a possible replacement for Paul Pogba, should the Frenchman leave Old Trafford this summer.
