Dead-ball specialist Kieran Trippier has been linked with a move to Manchester United and his latest comments suggest he is resigned to leave Tottenham.
Although there have been links to Serie A outfit Napoli (via The Sun) the England international stresses that he wants to stay in England, which either gives United a boost or increases the likelihood of Trippier staying at White Hart Lane.

“I want to stay in England, but what can you do? I’ll see what happens, and what the club wants, most importantly,” Trippier said, as per the Standard.
“I give everything for this club in training sessions, games. I don’t know [if I will be at Spurs next season]. I’ll go home now, spend time with my family and just recover after a long, difficult season.
“Everybody’s got a decision to make. Obviously, this club has been very good for me over the last few years, but I’ll enjoy my summer, come back in pre-season and that’s when I’ll sit down with the manager and have a talk about my future. I see a lot of speculation abut me not being there.”
While the 28-year-old is better than anyone Ole Gunnar Solskjaer can currently select at right-back, United should be looking at Crystal Palace starlet Aaron Wan-Bissaka instead.
Wan-Bissaka, 21, is one of the most exciting prospects coming out of the Premier League, and Solskjaer is looking to build his United side around young homegrown talent.
However, The Mirror recently reported claims that United were about to ditch plans to make a move for Trippier because he was deemed too expensive, with Spurs chairman Daniel Levy bound to make life difficult for the player and any potential suitors.
It’s also difficult to keep up with all the transfer shenanigans when you’re writing about United every day. Each year the club is linked with every Tom, Dick or Harry, and it’s our job to filter out the bullsh*t.
Some of the stories you find are ridiculous, some of them much more feasible, and some of them seem ridiculous but are actually quite likely.
At the age of 28, Trippier won’t get any better. It seems like the right time for Spurs to offload the full-back and blood someone new. Imagine if they sold us Trippier and bought Wan-Bissaka…
Of course, there’s a chance United will make a move for Trippier, but Daniel Levy is bound to make the situation difficult. He always does.
