Manchester United are likely to push for the best young players in world football now Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is in charge.
So far, the Norwegian is getting the best out of his young group of players and it seems to be part of his managerial philosophy to work with and develop fresh talent.
With that in mind, former Republic of Ireland striker Tony Cascarino thinks United should try and tempt the likes of Manchester City midfielder Phil Foden and Chelsea’s Callum Hudson-Odoi to Old Trafford.
In theory, it’s a great idea but City are never going to sell us a prospect like Foden. Chelsea also have a transfer ban this summer and will probably make life difficult for any player wanting to leave, like they did to Hudson-Odoi already in January. The Sun claims Chelsea are so desperate to keep the young England winger that they are willing to offer him a £100k p/w contract.

After a number of questionable signings over the past couple of years, United need to improve their recruitment strategy. It feels as though too many signings were commercially driven or not adequately scouted by the club.
Cascarino believes it may be time for United to move away from buying big name players for huge fees.
In his Times column, he writes: “United have tried the approach of big names and big signing, but United are about something more than that.
“After all why did they consider Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino? Because they wanted a manger who could mould and improve players and build a dynasty.
“This approach has to filter into the plans for summer signings.
“United should be going after players like Aaron Wan-Bissaka from Crystal Palace and Bournemouth’s David Brooks – young players who will want a chance to prove themselves at the highest level, who can add something to United’s squad.”
Wan-Bissaka was linked with a £35 million move to Old Trafford by the Daily Mail, with Antonio Valencia expected to leave in the summer. The Crystal Palace right-back could fight for his place with Diogo Dalot.
That said, something must change about how United go about their transfer dealings. Red News editor Barney Chilton has heard Solskajer will have £150 million to spend this summer.
I’m not sure that’s enough to sign four first-team players that United would need to strengthen the starting line-up. The Reds need a centre-back, full-back, on the right wing and arguably two new additions in midfield.
Let’s wait and see what happens.
