As we mentioned last night, PSV winger Hirving Lozano has become a target for Manchester United as the club look to solve their problem position.
Marcus Rashford’s goal against Watford ensured that United had four players hit double figures in a single season for the first time since 1996, but Lozano has been outperforming all of our attacking players. His eye-catching stats certainly back up the hype having contributed to 58 goals across the past two seasons in the Netherlands.

United’s top scorer Romelu Lukaku currently sits atop the Reds goalscoring charts on 15, but Lozano has gone four better than our Belgian to equal his personal tally of last season – 19 – with eight games of the season still to go for the Dutch champions and league leaders. Behind only team-mate Luuk de Jong as the Eredivisie’s top scorer, he is joint second with Dusan Tadic as a leading marksman. Thrown in his nine assists to his eleven from 2017-18, and you can see why Lozano has become so highly-rated.
Of course, United only need to look at Memphis Depay to see how being impressive in the Dutch league can have its pitfalls. It is not considered one of the major domestic leagues so it’s easier to look good where there are only three top clubs compared to the six-way battle of England’s elite.
Nevertheless, Lozano’s numbers look extremely impressive. So much so, that it’s no surprise to see some of Europe’s top brass come knocking on PSV’s door for the in-form winger.
The thought of the Mexican potentially in sync with Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial et al is one to set pulses racing.
