Apparently someone kept the chewing gum that sat inside Sir Alex Ferguson’s mouth during his final game as Manchester United manager has been sold for £390,000 on eBay.
The story was initially published by Sport Bible, who have picture evidence of the strangest sale we’ve seen online and there are many that take some beating.
Whatever about the crazy money it went for and why someone would want a piece of chewing gum that had been chewed by someone else, years ago, who on earth would request or wait for Fergie to drop his gum into a bin and see it as a financial opportunity?

Of course, Fergie was well known for chewing gum furiously in the dugout, so it has some significance I guess.
‘What’s that on the fireplace, Barbra?’
‘Oh, that’s just a piece of gum Sir Alex Ferguson chewed back in the day…’
I’ll stick to buying my own gum in the local shop.
P.S. Be wary accepting gum from strangers at Old Trafford. And if you do, please make sure it’s a fresh chewing gum. Not one that has already been in someone’s mouth. Yuck!
