Antoine Griezmann’s future at Atletico Madrid is once again filling the gossip columns.
The France international, who won the Europa League and World Cup last year, has a contract with Atletico running until 2023.
His current deal has a £170 million release clause, which according to reports in Spain, cited by The Mirror, drops to £103 million this summer. That might be a big drop but any potential suitor must still pay a significant fee, amounting to more than what most clubs can afford to pay for a forward this summer.
Atletico Madrid were eliminated from the Champions League at the hands of Juventus last week, and it is thought the blow has made Griezmann think twice about his future.

He was on the verge of joining Barcelona last summer but the move collapsed after Griezmann took a U-turn and decided to stay at Atletico Madrid. ESPN claim Barça are no longer interested.
However, Griezmann’s sister, Maud, has rubbished speculation linking her brother with a move away from Atletico.
“That’s right, Antoine is disappointed by this elimination, since one of his objectives while staying at Atletico was to win the [Champions League] in his stadium,” Griezmann’s sister told French newspaper L’Equipe, as quoted by The Metro.
“But he is the same as his teammates, coach, officials and fans.
“It’s tiring to read new things every day about what my brother thinks and about whoever says they know what he’s thinking.
“The only people who have been managing my brother’s interests for two years are myself, my father, Alain, and our lawyer, Sevan Karian.
“If there is a club we are in contact with right now, it’s Atletico Madrid and no other.”
Straight to the point from Griezmann’s sister in attempt to rubbish claims her brother is looking for a summer move.
But will he really turn down a third opportunity to join a bigger club if a club like United reignites interest in his signature?
