Romelu Lukaku missed a sitter in the opening minutes against Crystal Palace.
Caretaker manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer started the out-of-form striker at Selhurst Park, with Marcus Rashford named on the bench not 100 per cent fit after playing the entire match against Liverpool on Sunday with an ankle injury.
Lukaku had a great chance to open the scoring when a brilliant Luke Shaw cross swung in and found the Belgium international unmarked inside the box. However, his volley sailed over the bar.
The former Everton attacker has struggled for form this term, scoring just 8 goals in the Premier League. He scored 16 in the league last season.
With Rashford on the bench, tonight presents Lukaku an opportunity to get back into the team again. It would take something significant but scoring that volley would have been a start…
