David de Gea to be offered £90m deal to stay at Manchester United

Manchester United are reportedly ready to offer a £90 million package to David de Gea in order to keep him at Old Trafford.

The Reds cannot afford to lose De Gea and they attempt to transition and become a member of Europe’s elite again, whereas four years ago it seemed inevitable that he’d soon join Real Madrid.

But according to a report in the Times, this pay rise would be highest basic pay package in English football with United desperate to tie the Spain no.1 down.

De Gea has given United no indication whatsoever that he wishes to leave the club, but with his contract set to expire it makes sense to get a deal done before it’s too late.

There would be no shortage of interest if De Gea became available on a Bosman. Every club in the world would be looking to get hold of his signature, if they could afford his wages.

The report adds that executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward views this deal as a priority along with appointing a director of football and new full-time manager.

This new reported deal would see De Gea exceed top earners such as Mesut Ozil, Alexis Sanchez and Paul Pogba, two of which are paid by United.
