Mauro Icardi’s future at Inter Milan is in doubt after the Argentine was stripped of the captaincy and left out of the squad for their midweek encounter with Rapid Wien.
As picked up on by the Daily Mail, the striker is not happy about the situation, and now there are questions being asked over whether or not he will be at the San Siro next season.
Icardi’s record with the Nerazzurri speaks volumes and would suggest why so many clubs have been linked with him in the past. He has scored 122 goals in 210 appearances since joining the Italian giants in 2013.

According to the paper edition of Corriere dello Sport, as cited by Calciomercato, Inter no longer see a future with Icari. They’ve reportedly even made a four-man transfer shortlist of possible replacements, including one Manchester United star: Romelu Lukaku, Eden Dzeko, Timo Wener and Duvan Zapata.
While I don’t believe Lukaku’s future at Old Trafford is set in stone, he’s had a difficult season and United will refuse to leave him go on a cheap.
The Belgian international has scored just nine goals in 32 appearances for United, and has now lost his place in the team to Marcus Rashford.
We’ll have to wait and see if Lukaku can get back to scoring ways between now and the end of the season, but he doesn’t appear to suit Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s system as much as Rashford and for that reason his days may be numbered.
At least with Dzeko and Zapata they would be getting a striker with experience and a prolific record in Serie A.
