Ander Herrera has future at Man Utd with new deal pending

Ander Herrera is set to become the latest Manchester United player to sign a new contract.

According to the Daily Mail, the Spain international is close to joining Ashley Young in putting pen to paper and extending his current deal.

Herrera’s current deal expires at the end of the season and he’s been a formidable presence in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s midfield.

Fans were quick to call for the 29-year-old to return to the starting eleven after Andreas Pereira was handed a starting opportunity in the recent 2-2 draw with Burnley.

After Sunday’s 1-0 win over Leicester, Herrera was quizzed on his contract situation and made it clear if offered a new deal he would sign it.

“If I deserve it, I will get it,” Herrera said, as per the Mirror. “I got the player of the year two years ago and, I cannot lie, I feel very good at the moment. I feel in form, I can run a lot and recover the ball and I feel good when I have it at my feet.”

Young, who has reached his eight year as a Manchester United player, has signed a new one-year deal at Old Trafford.

United are clearly working hard to secure deals with players they want to work under the next full-time manager. Anthony Martial signed a long-term extension with the club last week and more players are expected to follow suit in the coming months.
