Marcos Rojo could become the first causality as Manchester United look to reshuffle their defence over the coming months.
That’s according to The Metro, who claim United are also preparing a world-record move for Napoli centre-back Kalidou Koulibaly and selling Rojo would provide additional funds for such a deal.
The Argentina international has made just two appearances so far this season and has yet to feature under caretaker manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who sent Rojo home from the training camp in Dubai as he struggles with injuries.

Rojo was signed by Louis van Gaal but his successor José Mourinho was left unhappy with the board’s failure to sign an experienced centre-back last summer. United’s defensive stats for the season thus far don’t read very well either – conceding 32 goals.
It’s no wonder Koulibaly has emerged as United’s priority target though The Metro make it clear Napoli are unwilling to negotiate a transfer in January, so we’re likely to revisit the situation in the summer.
The Italian club rejected a bid of £95 million from United, according to club chairman Aurelio De Laurentiis, as per Goal, so the thinking is that he will surpass the £75 million it cost Liverpool to sign Virgil Van Dijk (via The Guardian).
Perhaps the decision to flog Rojo to the highest bidder will see Premier League outfit Everton reconsider a move for the Argentine? Their interest during the summer was reported by The Telegraph despite fears over his wage demands derailing a potential transfer at the time.
Rojo won’t be much of a loss but I will miss his reckless streak when he leaves. Not that we see a lot of it nowadays…
