Jose Mourinho provided some insight into how his team will approach Crystal Palace in a pre-match interview after announcing the starting line-up.
The Portuguese tactician is a conservative manager but it is the view of many supporters that United should play better, more free flowing football against lesser sides.
United also tend to start games slowly and in a reactive manner, not really kicking on until late in the game or when they concede.
It may add to the drama of each game, but it’s not good for our hearts!
Mourinho was complimentary of Roy Hodgson’s Palace ahead of the game for defending well, but it will excite United fans that he wants his players to play fast and get the job done.
The team and fans could do with some feel good factor on the pitch again. It’s been a long time since we’ve witnessed a United side play well for an entire match.
Instead, we’re fed a decent 45 minutes or so. The smaller teams tend to raise their game for trips to Old Trafford and we need to quit being complacent.
Mourinho on the threat #CPFC pose to #MUFC: “They defend well, compact. They put the two lines of four very narrow, compact. They close all the central (area). You have to try and play fast, to find situations… if we need to change our approach, we have a good, strong bench”
