Juventus express interest in Man Utd starlet after plotting separate Bosman move for De Gea

According to Paul Joyce of The Times, Juventus have upped their interest in Marcus Rashford.

Rashford came on as a substitute in Manchester United’s memorable 2-1 win against Juve in Turin last month, and The Times state that the Serie A giants are tracking the forward “with officials making checks on the player’s background and character”.

This season Rashford has struggled to find form when playing for United, though he often looks like a player full of confidence when togging out for England. There is a clear contrast in performance levels and he has scored more goals for Gareth Southgate’s men (3) this term than under Mourinho (2).

However, Rashford is contracted to United until 2020 when the club then be able to take up the option to extend that by one more year.

The supposed interest from Juve would suggest that they may now be planning to take two players from Old Trafford, with the Daily Star reporting on David de Gea’s likelihood of joining them for free once his United contract expires.

But it’s hardly a surprise that other big clubs are surrounding United’s best and most promising players. These clubs will all see this period as an opportunity to persuade these alleged targets that the grass is greener on the other side.

For instance, United aren’t fighting on all front anymore. We are miles off winning the Premier League or reaching Champions League finals. That’s not the case at Juve.

We can only hope Rashford wants to stay, fight for his place and be part of the United team that will be remembered for winning the first post-Ferguson league title – however long it takes.

Though it would be ridiculous to suggest we’re not a bit concerned by this reported interest, especially given it’s come from a reliable outlet.
