Diogo Dalot hints he’s ready to help Man Utd prior to Crystal Palace clash

Diogo Dalot has hinted that he is fit and ready to return to first-team action for Manchester United.

Dalot joined from FC Porto during the past summer and, despite United’s struggles at right-back, he has been limited to just two appearances for the first-team, as per WhoScored.

Ashley Young is currently United’s regular right-back after edging fellow 33-year-old Antonio Valencia out of the team, though neither are out-and-out defenders and that regularly creates problems down the right flank.

For instance, Manchester City were quick to identify a weakness down United’s right in the recent derby defeat. It wasn’t our main fault for losing but manager Pep Guardiola knew it was an area his players could exploit.

People get excited by new signings and will want to see more of Dalot, however, Mourinho will be in no rush with his new signings. At 19, he has plenty of time to prove his worth but it’s reasonable to expect him to perform better than a winger in defence…

The young Portuguese full-back captioned a new Instagram upload with the following: “That feeling when you’re ready to help your team again. Good week for everyone.”

Let’s hope Mourinho gives Dalot some minutes from the bench at least when Crystal Palace visit Old Trafford on Saturday.
