Pogba ruled out of France squad after missing Manchester Derby through injury

Paul Pogba missed the Manchester Derby at the weekend through injury, so it’s only right that he recovers over the international break.

Sky Sports claim Pogba will not join up with France this week despite being previously called up to Didier Deschamps’ squad.

The 25-year-old was absent for the 3-1 derby defeat as manager Jose Mourinho opted for a midfield trio of Nemanja Matic, Ander Herrera and Marouane Fellaini instead. We lacked a creative spark in the middle as a result, with the boss overlooking new signing Fred yet again.

Fred is not an attacking midfielder but he has an eye for a forward pass. More so than any of the three midfielders that started at the Etihad…

As a result of picking up a fresh injury, Pogba will miss France’s UEFA Nations League clash away to the Netherlands and a home friendly against Uruguay.

But from a United perspective, I couldn’t care less, as long as Pogba is fit and ready after the international break when Mourinho’s men host Crystal Palace.

The Reds desperately need to go on a run of wins between now and Christmas to make up for lost ground. Otherwise, it will be a real struggle to finish in the top four.
