The Manchester Derby is less than a week away and Leroy Sane has attempted to add fuel to the fire before the eagerly anticipated Premier League encounter.
Sane insists he could never sign for United because he is on the ‘right side’ of the city.
The bookmakers saw United’s odds to sign the German winger slashed last week, as reported by the Manchester Evening News, but it still never seemed likely.
Those odds saw United priced at 7/2 while Bayern Munich and Juventus were joint favourites to sign Sane at 3/1, via Ladbrokes.
Attempts are underway to defend last season’s title and it is unlikely that any of the City players are considering a switch to a club fighting to get their way back into the Premier League’s top four.
United remain the biggest club not just in Manchester but all of England, though it would be ridiculous to state any of City’s players would rather he playing for a struggling side than one looking increasingly likely to win back-to-back league titles.
And even if Sane does leave City one day, the former Schalke ace insists we’ll never see him wearing the red of Manchester United.
“That won’t happen! That won’t happen at all,” Sane said, as per the Standard.
“I am really happy here and I’m on the right side!
“I always enjoy myself. To play with these players under this coach [Pep Guardiola] is a really good feeling and everyone can see we enjoy it all together, playing with each other.
“It’s fun to play with this team.”
A win for City this weekend will see the Blues increase their lead over United to 12 points.
Our hopes of mounting a title challenge are already dead, but our objective must be to edge our way back into the top four by Christmas.
