How Mourinho can avoid touchline ban vs Chelsea following FA charge

If anyone is aware of this, it’s definitely José Mourinho…

José Mourinho could avoid a touchline ban for Manchester United’s trip to Chelsea on Saturday, despite facing an FA charge for allegedly using abusive language following the dramatic comeback win over Newcastle prior to the international break.

The former Chelsea manager has until 6pm on Friday to respond to the charge. Should he do so before Friday’s deadline, any sanction would not be imposed due to the normal procedure time of an independent commission hearing.

So, if Mourinho replies with enough time for a hearing, he could miss United’s trip to Stamford Bridge; not something the Portuguese tactician is likely to fall for.

Any sanction would require a hearing.

If Mourinho is found guilty he faces anything from a warning, a fine, or a touchline ban. Sky Sports claims that is most likely to come into effect for United’s clash with Everton.
