Serie A ace ‘pleased to see Mourinho’ scouting at UEFA Nations League clash

It was claimed by Telegraph on October 9 that Jose Mourinho would be in attendance for Serbia’s clash against Montenegro during the international break.

The two players Mourinho was reportedly in attendance to watch – Nikola Milenkovic and Sergej Milinkovic-Savic – both featured, though only the former played the full 90 minutes. The Lazio midfielder, on the other hand, came on with just over 10 minutes remaining on the clock.

SMS, as he is known by in Serbian media, has been reported as a United target for many months. The summer transfer market saw the midfielder valued at a whopping €100 million, which resulted in clubs thinking twice about his signature.

The Serie A star was asked about his thoughts on Mourinho being in the stadium to watch the match.

I’m a Lazio player, but it’s obvious that I was pleased that a coach of his stature came to see the game,” Milinković-Savic, as quoted by Calciomercato.it.

“I read a little bit everywhere he was here at the stadium to see me play, but that does not mean anything. Maybe he was not here for me, but for someone else.”

A player like SMS would make perfect sense for United if the club were to sanction the sale of Paul Pogba. Reports in Italy have compared the two but the Lazio star looks like a player always up for a fight, which Mourinho will admire rather than coming to blows with the French lad on the training ground for all cameras to see…
