How much it would cost to sack Jose Mourinho at Man Utd

Manchester United sacking manager Jose Mourinho is a possibility. And no longer a far-fetched one.

The Reds have lost two of their opening six Premier League games – and have recently been knocked out of the League Cup third round to Championship opposition Derby County.

Sacking Mourinho may be a drastic option at this point, but if things don’t improve the club will be left with no other choice but to push the red button. This is something that will set United back a penny or two if this report from the Mirror is to be believed.

The report suggests that United binning off Mourinho will cost the club a massive amount, as the former Chelsea boss signed a new deal with the Reds until the summer of 2020 at the start of the year.

It goes further to claim that Mourinho currently takes home approximately £13.5 million a year from his job and that the club would be expected to pay the rest of his deal off should they decide to get rid before his contract expires.

So, Mourinho earns around £260,000-a-week, meaning United would have to pay near £23.3 million to sack the Portuguese tactician.

Why, oh why, did United give Mourinho a new contract and then refuse to get the players he wanted in this past summer?
