Jose Mourinho has confirmed that former FC Porto will not start for Manchester United against Wolves on Saturday.
The United manager handed Dalot his first-team debut during the week in our Champions League opening win against Young Boys on Wednesday night.
Dalot earned praise for his performance and Mourinho was also left impressed by the young Portuguese right-back.
“I want him in this process of adaption to play totally fresh, so he’s not playing tomorrow against Wolves. He plays Tuesday again,” Mourinho said.
That means Dalot will start his next game in the League Cup against Frank Lampard’s Derby County, giving the youngster another opportunity to impress in a Red shirt.
Dalot is very much a player for the future, therefore, Mourinho is not going to rush him into the starting line-up just yet. Instead, he will act as an understudy to Antonio Valencia in the full-back role.
