(Watch) 9 minute collaboration of Man Utd legends David Beckham and Ryan Giggs

For many of us, this is the football we grew up watching in the 90s and early 2000s. Attacking football with pure emphasis on the wingers.

Nowadays wingers tend to cut in and interchange more often than not rather than get chalk on their boots. Whether that is down to full-backs having a greater influence on the game is up for discussion – but wingers like Ryan Giggs and David Beckham are hard to find.

At Spurs, there’s Kieran Tripper at right wing-back who has frightening crosses driven into the box each week from slightly deeper positions than what Becks would find adequate enough to swing one in. He’s good at it, though my point is that has almost become the job of your full-back to take that space when the winger cuts in.

The growing influence of the wing back is likely to continue with how Pep Guardiola has shaped the game. Everyone laughed at the Catalonian boss a year ago when he went out to sign a handful of full-backs, yet he still ended up winning the Premier League with a 19 point comfort zone.

Anyhow, put your feet up and enjoy this Giggs/Beckham collaboration. The good days!
