Revealed: How ‘unhappy’ Rashford reacted to being sent off against Burnley

The last week saw Manchester United pick up three points, winning two of our first four Premier League games, but there was still one small negative from the away victory over Burnley.

Jose Mourinho’s men saw out the match with just ten men after Marcus Rashford was sent off.

Rashford was dismissed after he brushed heads with Burnley’s Phil Bardsley at Turf Moor.

Bardsley was only booked for his part in the incident despite also going head-to-head with Rashford after kicking out at the United forward, which instigated the entire incident.

On Tuesday, the Daily Mail has reported on what happened when Rashford was sent for an early shower.

“Marcus Rashford angrily kicked Manchester United’s dressing-room door after he was sent off at Burnley on Sunday.

“No damage was caused, according to those who witnessed the incident, but it was a sign of frustration from the usually placid youngster in response to the first red card of his career.”

Firstly, what is the Burnley away dressing room made of? Paper? It would take an almighty kick to cause damage to such surface.

The Mail also claim that Rashford isn’t happy at United, which is a timely suggestion after Arsenal legend Ian Wright urged the striker to consider his future at the club unless manager Jose Mourinho starts playing him in his preferred role as a centre-forward.

What I’d like to know is, if Wright was a manager of this United side, would he play a system with two centre-forwards to drop Romelu Lukaku for Rashford? That doesn’t strike us as very wise because as things stand, Rashford clearly isn’t a better goalscorer than Lukaku.

In the opening week of the season, United beat Leicester 2-1 at Old Trafford and Rashford played 66 minutes. Against Brighton, he got 45 minutes on the pitch but didn’t feature a week later in the 3-0 home defeat to Tottenham.

Rashford has since apologised for his red card by claiming emotions got the better of him.
