Jose Mourinho reportedly on brink of Man Utd axe

Reports have claimed that people inside Manchester United believe that Jose Mourinho is one more defeat away from facing the axe at Old Trafford.

The Portuguese tactician is under immense pressure after back-to-back defeats to Brighton and Tottenham, as it comes after a summer of discontent.

As noted by The Guardian earlier this summer, Mourinho is said to have grown frustrated over the lack of signings at the club. The current mood isn’t much better, as seen in the video below.

Following the defeat to Brighton, the Reds needed a boost in morale, but according to The Daily Mail, those inside the club, namely the staff and players, are said to be under the impression that should United lose this weekend, it could be curtains for Mourinho.

It goes without saying after reading that things aren’t moving in the right direction at Old Trafford and I’m not just talking about on-pitch matters. The lack of football initiative within the board is frightening for a club this size.

On the pitch, United finished 19 points adrift of champions Manchester City last season and Ed Woodward didn’t give Mourinho his full backing in the transfer market to properly strengthen his side. Pep Guardiola and Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp didn’t have that problem.

Manchester United travel to Turf Moor on Sunday, where they take on Burnley. Mourinho desperately needs a response from his players after consecutive defeats.
