Barça tipped to sign two marquee signings next year, with Pogba set for Man Utd exit

Barcelona have overseen a big reshuffle in midfield this summer, but reports claim that they could be eyeing some exciting changes in 2019.

The Catalan giants saw both Andres Iniesta and Paulinho leave the Nou Camp, which in turn led to moves for Arthur and Arturo Vidal to fill the gaps.

With the transfer deadline in Spain approaching on Friday, it seems unlikely that they will complete any further business in the next 48 hours or so, much to Paul Pogba’s disappointment…

According to Sport, two of Pogba, Adrien Rabiot and Frenkie de Jong will join the La Liga champions next year.

Rabiot will become a free agent next summer given his current contract expires at the end of the season, provided that he doesn’t pen new terms with Paris Saint-Germain in the meantime.

As noted by The Guardian, Pogba raised serious questions over his situation at Manchester United earlier this month by hinting that he isn’t entirely happy at Old Trafford. That suggestion is echoed by Sport, but time will tell if the World Cup winner can be prised away from United, who will look to adopt a strong negotiation stance when Barcelona come knocking again.

On this week’s Strettycast, I was joined by Raman, Philip and Jonathan to review the 3-0 defeat to Tottenham, but perhaps the biggest conversation topic was the contrast shown between Luke Shaw and Pogba on Monday night. The Frenchman showed no urgency whatsoever, whereas the left-back began looking like a Manchester United player for the first time since his horror injury against PSV Eindhoven.

If Pogba doesn’t start getting his act together, he will be no loss to United on the pitch – different commercially (d’uh). I’d be surprised if Barça genuinely want him in the first place.
