Journalist makes surprising prediction on Pogba’s future, amid row with Mourinho

Journalist Ian McGarry claims that he wouldn’t be surprised if Paul Pogba ends up signing a new long-term deal with Manchester United.

The France international has been linked with a move to La Liga champions Barcelona over the past couple of weeks.

Pogba has even spoken out about the struggles a footballer faces when playing whilst unhappy, though he wouldn’t elaborate on why that may be the case as it could result in him being fined, as per BBC Sport.

After joining United from Juventus in 2016 for £89 million, Pogba has yet to justify his record transfer fee but after winning the World Cup with France, everyone had high hopes he would bring the form he showed with France to the Premier League.

Stretty News understands the player’s relationship with manager Jose Mourinho could be a lot better, as he was left frustrated by the Portuguese tactician publicly criticising him last season.

Pogba’s stock is high following his performances at the World Cup, which have linked him with a move away from Old Trafford.

However, Daily Record reporter McGarry believes Pogba could end up signing a new contract with United to secure his long-term future at the club.

“If Pogba stays beyond the August deadline, Raiola’s agent is to get Pogba an upgrade in his contract where we see Pogba becomes the best-paid player at Man United,” McGarry told the Transfer Window podcast.

“If that happens, I think we will see a breakout of peace between Pogba and Mourinho and Raiola and Man United.”
