Barcelona Transfer Boost: Man Utd concern grows after Mourinho row

Having made him captain and seen Paul Pogba lead his side to a win in their Premier League opener against Leicester City last week, it would appear all is well for Jose Mourinho and his World Cup winner.

The Reds took all three points after a winning start to the campaign and despite having only returned to training earlier in the week, Pogba showed his commitment to making himself available to help seal the victory.

Pogba opened his account for the year in the opening minutes, with a comfortably taken penalty kick which breezed past Kasper Schmeichel.

However, cracks seemingly started to appear after his comments following that win, where he suggested that he’s unable to give his best when he’s not happy, as per BBC Sport.

Whether that was a dig at Mourinho or a general issue that Pogba has at United was unclear, but their relationship was beginning to worsen last season when the manager publicly slammed his midfielder and dropped him for the Sevilla game.

According to The Sun, Mourinho has insisted to Pogba that if he’s unhappy, he should ask for a transfer while it’s added that the pair is no longer on speaking terms.

Provided this information is accurate, this is a nightmare situation for United to be in as the new season gets underway.

Mourinho already has a lot of work on his hands to bridge last season’s 19 point gap with Manchester City, he may now have to deal with an unhappy player flexing his muscles in an attempt to shift power in the dressing room.

That is the last thing Mourinho needs and especially with his most talented player.

Moreover, this will come as music to the ears of Barcelona, who have been heavily linked with a swoop for the Frenchman, as claimed by the Daily Star.

It goes without saying that Barcelona will be monitoring this situation.
