Manchester United transfer target Willian says he is committed to Chelsea, amid interest from manager Jose Mourinho.
Mourinho is believed to be eager to secure a reunion with the Brazil international, who he brought to Stamford Bridge during his second stint in charge at Chelsea, in 2013.
But Willian has addressed the speculation surrounding his future, which has also seen him heavily linked with La Liga champions Barcelona.
“I’m a Chelsea player,” Willian told ESPN Brasil, as per 101 Great Goals. “I always made it clear that what I wanted was to stay in the club.
“The only club I knew that really made an official offer for me was Barcelona. But I have my head here and I intend to continue in the club unless the club wants to sell me. But my head is here in the club.”
It has been said that Barcelona want to add further to their attack following Ousmane Dembele’s underwhelming debut campaign, though the French winger struggled with injuries so there is every chance he will turn it around at Camp Nou.
United, on the other hand, could do with a better option on the right side of attack, especially a player with Willian’s pace.
Another article from ESPN alludes to a potential swap deal between Chelsea and United which would involve Willian and wantaway star Anthony Martial.
While fans are split on such a swoop, Willian fits this United team better than Martial and if the Frenchman is to remain at Old Trafford, he has a lot of work to do in order to get back into Mourinho’s team.
