Bayern Munich scout identifies Anthony Martial as replacement for iconic duo

Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich are reportedly planning a move for Manchester United starlet Anthony Martial as they prepare to replace the likes of Franck Ribery and Arjen Robben.

They are big shoes to fill but Martial has enough talent to succeed either one of the attacking players if guided under the right management.

It’s no secret that the 22-year-old is unhappy at Old Trafford after being dropped from the starting line-up following Alexis Sanchez’s January arrival. Although his stroppy attitude leaves a lot to be desired, Martial probably didn’t deserve to be publicly slammed by Jose Mourinho. That set off alarm bells for the player and his agent.

According to The Express, Bayern scout Laurent Busser has identified Martial as one of the probable alternatives to bolster the squad in a year’s time with Robben and Ribery expected to part ways.

I don’t watch the Bundesliga each week but from seeing Bayern in the Champions League last term, it’s clear both players have started to slow down and show signs that the end of their careers is around the corner. And, like any big club should, the Germans are preparing for the inevitable.

Martial’s current contract expires next summer but the club has the option of triggering a 12-month extension clause. They’re more likely to do that than allow the France international leave on a free.
