Man Utd to offer £30m plus defender in bid to complete final summer signing, according to reliable radio host

On Twitter, it’s relatively easy to figure out who is trustworthy and who is not. Every summer we see new accounts pop up claiming to be ITK (in the know) but over time you learn how to call a bluff as they plea desperately for more Twitter followers.

Social media, in many ways, has become a cock-measuring contest. ‘Look! Look! I have 10,000 followers.’ Yeah, mate, all from ranting in your parents’ spare room. Congratu-fuckin-lations.

But Phil Brown (@Malachinans) is someone I’ve had many exchanges with down the years. He knows his stuff, so when he talks everybody listens.

However, Brown, who is host of Beyond The Pitch, has delivered an insightful update on United’s summer plans.

The radio show host believes Alex Sandro could be United’s final transfer of the summer, with the club offering Juventus £30 million plus Matteo Darmian for the Brazil international.

He also states that Ed Woodward has been pursuing Gareth Bale aggressively this summer and that the Reds were put off Cristiano Ronaldo because of Real Madrid’s asking price. Mourinho is not convinced a deal for Bale will go through, but Woody doesn’t sound like he wants to stop working on the potential deal.

Moreover, Woodward hasn’t travelled to America with the squad which would suggest he has stayed in London to work on transfer deals – incomings and outgoings.

Finally, as I found it particularly worrying, is that Mourinho and Paul Pogba have yet to solve their differences from last season. The pair fell out and Mourinho continued to publicly criticise the French midfielder after games.
