Man Utd in the clear to sign €70m-rated attacker with Barcelona out of the running

Manchester United are in the clear to seal a deal to bring Chelsea and Brazil star Willian to the club, after it was reported that Barcelona aren’t willing to match the club’s proposed €70 million for the winger.

This is being reported by Diario Gol, who state that the Reds are willing to fork out the aforementioned fee to bring Willian to Old Trafford, whereas Barcelona were only willing to spend €40 million for the Brazilian.

The news outlet also state that Lionel Messi doesn’t want the club to move to Willian as he sees the player as just a stop-gap and not a player for the long-term, which is ironic given he is older than the Premier League star.

Willian was impressive for Brazil at the World Cup this summer, but the Selecao were eliminated at the quarter-final stages to Belgium.

He is regarded as one of Chelsea’s most important players and one Jose Mourinho previously brought to the club, so it’s no surprise to see the boss wanting to reunite with one of his former star men.

It has also been suggested that Willian could come in as a replacement for Anthony Martial should the Frenchman be granted his wish to leave this summer.

  1. Willian is not worth the train fair to get him to Old Trafford from the medical so why spend all that money on him. If United had any ambitions Mbappe would be the attacking player to pursue.
