Nabil Fekir back on: Liverpool’s surprise turnaround amid Man Utd links

Liverpool were on the verge of landing Nabil Fekir last month, only for the deal to collapse at the last minute.

The France international was forced to deny rumours that a knee injury was the cause of the move falling through.

After the Scousers seemingly abandoned their pursuit, Manchester United then reportedly moved in for Fekir.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp subsequently appeared to switch his attention to other targets including Real Madrid star Marco Asnsio, as per CaughtOffside.

But in what some will consider a blow to United’s chances of landing Fekir, Liverpool have performed a turnaround.

The Express claim the deal could be back on the cards but give little detail as to why they’ve changed their mind about the player.

Did United make Liverpool uncomfortable in the transfer market?

Fekir has only played 58 minutes at the World Cup, so that’s unlikely to be the reason Liverpool have pulled off such a U-turn.

Lyon president Jean Michel-Aulas has already confirmed the club have held talks with United boss Jose Mourinho.

“I was with Jose Mourinho the other day. We had long discussions,” he said, as per the Daily Star.

“Personally, I am no longer in discussions with Liverpool.

“At the moment, we are waiting for France and Nabil to have a fantastic World Cup.”
