Man Utd given boost as Julen Lopetegui is set to show €50m rated midfielder the door at Real Madrid

Manchester United have been given a boost in their pursuit of Mateo Kovacic, as Real Madid boss Julen Lopetegui has said that the player must leave the club this summer.

Don Balon are stating that the new Los Blancos manager is adamant that the player much leave the Spanish capital and that the player is also keen to leave the European champions.

The Daily Mail have reported recently that the Reds are keen on Kovacic, meaning that this recent report adds fuel to the fire and will probably end up filling United supporters with excitement.

That is the case every summer with players belong to La Liga’s biggest clubs. Their players have been guilty in the past of using clubs such as United to get bigger and better contracts.

However, the difference here is Kovacic is not a starter at Real Madrid and that is unlikely to change while Luka Modric, Toni Kroos and Casemiro remain at the club.

Don Balon have previously stated that Kovacic has a release clause worth €50 million in his contract, a price well within United’s price region, but could Marouane Fellaini’s new contract get in the way of new midfield additions?

We really hope not.

The former Inter Milan man would have a much better chance of starting regularly at United than Madrid and for a mere €50 million, he would be considered a bargain in today’s market.
