Revealed: Fellaini’s representatives had meeting with other Premier League

Marounae Fellaini reportedly rejected the opportunity to join Arsenal before signing a two-year contract with Manchester United.

Jose Mourinho was facing the prospect of losing the Belgium international on a free transfer at the end of the week as his deal was due to expire.

That said, we’ve yet to see an announcement that his contract has been renewed.

According to The Times, Fellaini had received offers from AC Milan, Paris Saint-Germain, Galatasaray and clubs from the Chinese Super League.

Reports now claim representatives of Fellaini had a meeting with Arsenal’s head of recruitment Sven Mislintat about a switch to United’s Premier League rivals.

But Fellaini opted to stay at United once a two-year deal worth £100,000 a week was offered. There’s probably a few bonuses thrown on top of that, too.

The Times also claims that Fellaini has told his Belgium team-mates that he will be staying at Old Trafford.

While United fans are unlikely to be happy about Fellaini remaining at the club beyond the summer, Mourinho is getting his wish. We just hope that doesn’t mean we won’t see a world-class midfielder joining before the summer transfer window shuts.
