Maroune Fellaini gets in the way of another Man Utd transfer pursuit

Oh, the sheer relief.

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho will not move for West Ham forward Marko Arnautovic this summer.

The Reds have already been busy in this transfer window, with Mourinho signing Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder Fred and FC Porto right-back Diogo Dalot.

However, rumours today suggested Mourinho is keen to sign another centre-back and a new left-back this summer.

And, according to The Times, United’s decision to keep hold of Marouane Fellaini has ended Mourinho’s interest in signing Aranutovic.

The same was reported yesterday about Mourinho’s pursuit of young Lazio midfielder, Sergej Milinkovic-Savic – ended because of Fellaini.

They claim Arnautovic was seen as a potential replacement for the Belgium international, which is probably the biggest insult ever handed to the West Ham man.

Arnautovic impressed under David Moyes this season, netting 11 goals and recording a total six assists in the Premier League.

Mourinho is keen to splash the cash this summer after watching rivals Manchester City dominate in the Premier League and break the 100-point barrier on route to the title this year.

Fellaini won’t help bridge that gap, though.
